This captures the root issue perfectly: operational burden is the hidden killer. I once debugged a Kafka cluster for three days straght only to realize we could've handled everything with a simple Postgres NOTIFY/LISTEN. What bugs me most is how conference-driven architecture actively drains team velocity while everyone thinks they're being "senior engineers."

The conference driven architecture thing drives me crazy, too. Real seniority is knowing when NOT to use the shiny tool.
